Certified Sterile Processing Technician

A-Team Solutions is seeking Sterile Processing Technicians for full time positions, for the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK, for an opportunity we are currently pursuing. Shifts: Evenings and Night
Job Duties:
The Sterile Processing Supply (SPS) technician shall provide timely and accurate submissions of
reprocessed items. The SPS technician shall have a complete understanding of universal precautions and
infection control and its effect on patient care and employee safety.
The SPS technician’s responsibilities shall include:
A. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
B. Collecting contaminated items from user sites
C. Sorting, inspecting, and processing instrumentation
D. Use of the Spaulding System to apply proper cleaning techniques
E. Knowledge of cleaning products
F. Compliant with the VA Standard Operational Procedures as well as OSHA, AAMI, and
IAHCSMM safe practices
G. Utilizing quality assurance measures (biologic, chemical and mechanical)
H. Packaging small items in peel-packs
I. Assembling trays/instruments for effective sterilization
J. Adept in the operation of steam, and cold sterilization
K. Adept in the cleaning and high-level disinfection of endoscopes
L. Maintaining log book entries
Requirements:
The Sterile Processing Technician(s) shall have a working knowledge of medical and surgical terminology including surgical procedures and human anatomy and physiology; understands aseptic principles and techniques; follows standard operating procedures without deviation.
The Sterile Processing Technician(s) shall have at a minimum two (2) years of experience prior to beginning at the VAMC.
The Sterile Processing Technician(s) shall be CPR/BLS certified.
Prior to the provision of services, the Sterile Processing Technician(s) must have evidence of the following:
Health examinations including annual TB skin test result.
Either has received the Hepatitis B vaccine series, or are immune as a result of acquired infection, or have been offered and refused the vaccinations
Received measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. (Combined vaccine (MMR) is the vaccine of choice if individuals are likely to be susceptible to more than one of the three diseases and is required for all persons born after 1956.
A negative PPD within the last year, or, if a known reactor, a negative chest X-Ray within the past year.
A history of varicella (chicken pox) or, if unknown, results of a varicella antibody test. If non-immune, shall immunize as appropriate.
Received training in Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazardous Material Management, and Life Safety Management (fire preparedness).
The Sterile Processing Technician(s) shall read, understand, speak and write English fluently.
Sterile Processing Technicians must have current, unrestricted licensures in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
