The Shipping Coordinator Lead is responsible for coordinating and leading the daily shipping operations to ensure orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and delivered on time. This role serves as the primary point of contact for shipping activities, providing daily direction, prioritization, and support to the shipping team while working closely with Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, Sales, Purchasing, and Management. The Shipping Coordinator Lead drives operational excellence by resolving issues, coordinating logistics, maintaining inventory integrity, and supporting continuous process improvements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily shipping operations for domestic, LTL, FTL, expedited, and international shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Lead the daily shipping workflow by establishing priorities, coordinating shipment schedules, and communicating production deadlines to the shipping team.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between Shipping, Operations, Production, Warehouse, Customer Service, Sales, Purchasing, and Management to ensure seamless communication and issue resolution.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and operational support to shipping personnel, assisting with workload balancing and ensuring adherence to shipping procedures and schedules.
- Coordinate third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight carriers, customs documentation, and transportation scheduling while optimizing service and freight costs.
- Utilize SAP, ERP systems, carrier portals, and shipping software to process orders, generate shipping documentation, and track shipments from release through final delivery.
- Verify shipping accuracy by reviewing order specifications, Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, pallet labeling, and customer routing requirements.
- Coordinate carrier pickups, freight appointments, dock scheduling, and transportation logistics to maintain efficient shipping operations.
- Monitor inventory movement and shipping transactions to ensure inventory accuracy and system integrity.
- Research and resolve shipping discrepancies, freight claims, delivery issues, and inventory variances while implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Support Customer Service and Sales by providing shipment updates, expediting urgent orders, and resolving transportation-related concerns.
- Partner with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams to proactively identify constraints and ensure material availability for scheduled shipments.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, customer routing guides, transportation regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and improving shipping processes, standard operating procedures, and workflow efficiencies.
- Monitor shipping performance, maintain operational reports and shipment metrics, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, service, and customer satisfaction.
- Support onboarding and cross-training of shipping personnel to ensure consistent execution of departmental processes.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
