Qualifications:
- Meet the Highly Qualified definition as set forth by No Child Left Behind Legislation. Methods for achieving this status include: Associate Degree from an Accredited Institution, 60 college credits from an accredited institution, or pass as assessment of basic skills: ACT WorkKeys, ETS Praxis, or Michigan Test for Teacher Certification.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience and desire to work with challenging students.
- Experience working with individual students as well as with small groups of students on a variety of activities.
- Basic understanding of appropriate behavior management strategies to use with children.
Job Duties:
- Provide behavioral assistance to students needing support through the Positive Behavior Support Classroom.
- Assist students with day-to-day learning and behavioral goals.
- Provide personal care needs for students that are in need through the IEP process.
- Assist students on and off the bus if required.
- Maintain appropriate records.
- Work collaboratively with teachers.
- Willingness to receive specialized training.
- Willingness to perform duties related to students with behavior needs alongside teachers/staff.
- All other duties as assigned by building Principal, Supervisor of Special Education, or Superintendent.
Salary: In accordance with the Master Agreement.
Terms of Employment: School year only position. 6 hours per day during all scheduled student days
