Job Overview
As an Interconnection and Permitting Coordinator you will secure utility interconnection approvals and AHJ permits for the development and construction of Colorado-based solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage residential and commercial projects.
The Interconnection and Permitting Coordinator will work closely with customers, sales and operations staff to efficiently and accurately move applications through the utility interconnection and permitting process to support project installations.
Our ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail, problem solving, communication and organization skills needed to manage a high volume of application requests simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy, follow-up on review and approval status, resolve approval issues and relay updates to the customer and internal teams.
We are open to flexible work schedules working fully remote. We are looking for someone in the Denver, CO area.
Interconnection and Permitting Coordinator Duties:
- Prepare, submit, and track interconnection applications with utilities across various jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with utility requirements.
- Prepare, submit, and track permit application packages to AHJ's ensuring accuracy and compliance with AHJ requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, design, engineering, construction and service) and external stakeholders (utilities, AHJs) responding to questions or revision requests and facilitate timely interconnection approvals.
- Communicate with customers to request customer utility bill information, identify customer project constraints, secure application signatures, respond to questions and provide timely updates.
- Flag non-compliant designs and collaborate with engineering to resolve issues before submission.
- Address utility and AHJ comments, requests for information, and technical concerns during the interconnection review process to facilitate the required approvals in a timely manner.
- Maintain records of utility application and AHJ permitting requirements and contact information for reference in processing new applications and permits.
- Submit company AHJ license applications and maintain license records
- Maintain detailed records of interconnection and permit status, timelines, deliverables, and anticipated approval dates.
- Manage multiple permit and interconnection applications simultaneously. Utilize CRM software to log permit statuses, milestones, and correspondence. Provide regular updates to customers, project teams and leadership.
- Establish and maintain points of contact and partnerships with utilities and AHJ's.
The core components of success are (i. e. must haves):
- 1+ year of work experience in Permits or Interconnection application submission for Solar and Battery Systems or Construction of renewable energy systems.
- Understanding of specific authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) permitting and utility interconnection policies and procedures in Colorado
- Basic familiarity with solar and storage system designs and grid-tied configurations
- MS office, Excel, Visio and Word proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with utilities, AHJs and internal team
- A person with a high sense of urgency and a pro-active approach to problem solving
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
