Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems for heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire services, alignment checks, and system inspections to prevent breakdowns.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to ensure proper fit and function.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during maintenance procedures.
- Read schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems accurately.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities for compliance and future reference.
- Assist with vehicle assembly or equipment repair projects requiring heavy lifting or specialized mechanical skills while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
- Dealership experience or extensive background in heavy equipment mechanics is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine repair, automotive electrical systems, HVAC systems, and vehicle systems diagnostics.
- Proficiency with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and heavy trucks.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Mechanical knowledge of transmissions, suspension systems, shocks & struts, air brakes, hydraulics, and alignment procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and performing manual tasks in various outdoor environments.
