Land Surveying Project Manager – PLS

Summary
An established and growing multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm is seeking an experienced Land Surveying Project Manager to join its Raleigh, NC office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) who enjoys leading survey teams, managing projects, performing quality control, and supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead survey technicians and field crews performing land surveying, field data collection, survey data processing, calculations, and mapping.
- Manage surveying projects from initial planning through final delivery while maintaining project schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations.
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure survey deliverables meet company, state, and client standards.
- Develop project cost estimates, scopes of work, technical reports, proposals, and other project documentation.
- Perform and oversee boundary, route, and topographic surveys in both field and office environments.
- Prepare construction computations, survey calculations, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors, survey crews, and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to survey staff while maintaining high standards for accuracy and productivity.
- Assist with project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, budgeting, and successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
- North Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain NC licensure within one year.
- Minimum 10 years of land surveying experience, including at least one year of experience as a Surveying Project Manager.
- Strong field and office experience with boundary, route, and topographic surveying.
- Experience preparing construction computations and as-built drawings.
- Demonstrated success managing land surveying projects from beginning to completion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geomatics, or an Associate's degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation surveying platforms.
- Experience with Leica Geosystems and/or Trimble surveying hardware and software.
- FAA Part 107 certification.
- Experience processing UAS/drone and HDLS point clouds.
- Strong leadership, organizational, technical, and client-communication skills.
