The Newsroom Pub is seeking motivated and team oriented individuals to join our culinary team. The ideal candidates will have experience in meal preparation, food handling, and kitchen operations.
Starting compensation for this position is $18.00-$20.00 per hour DOE, plus tips.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dishpit
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly, including labeling
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards, current food handler's permit is required
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Line Cook/Prep Cook or relevant role is preferred.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Familiarity with industry best practices in food safety and sanitation
- Understanding of dietary restrictions and special requirements
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong teamwork mentality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
