Non-Union K-3 ASD Teacher
PAY RATE: $41,116 - $63,839 DOQ
SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate K-3 ASD Teacher to join our Special Education Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time position requires a collaborative approach to teaching, focusing on individualized instruction and the development of social, emotional, and academic skills. The K-3 ASD Teacher will work closely with students, families, and other educators to create a positive and engaging educational experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with ASD.

Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive behavior and social skills.

Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and interventions to support students' academic and social development.

Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional methods and goals as needed.

Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.

Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and strategies for support at home.

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and ASD.

Foster a culture of respect and inclusion within the classroom and the school community.

Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and IEP compliance.

Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and independence in their learning.

Manage paraprofessionals and their schedules.
REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Valid K-12 Michigan Certification; ASD Endorsement.

Experience working with students with ASD, preferably in a K-3 setting.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices and instructional strategies for students with ASD.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and colleagues.

Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing student records and IEP documentation.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about advancements in special education.
