As a Mobile Phlebotomist, you will be instrumental in supporting diagnostic processes, adhering to strict laboratory and clinical protocols, and fostering positive patient interactions across diverse environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and care, ensuring comfort and safety for patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
- Collect, label, process, and transport biological samples following CLIA regulations and laboratory procedures to ensure specimen integrity.
- Maintain detailed documentation of specimen collection activities within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and other data entry platforms.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and laboratory safety protocols during all specimen handling procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure understanding of sample collection processes.
- Manage biological samples responsibly, ensuring proper storage, transportation, and documentation in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support laboratory management by maintaining equipment cleanliness, inventory levels of supplies such as needles and tubes, and adhering to hospital or clinical confidentiality policies.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and laboratory procedures.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIS) and data entry accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations, laboratory safety standards, aseptic techniques, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ability to perform venipuncture confidently using proper technique; experience with pediatric or veterinary terminology is a plus.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred; ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times is essential.
- Experience working in hospital or research laboratory environments is highly desirable; knowledge of catheterization procedures such as spinal taps or cardiac catheterization is advantageous.
