Science Teacher (Grades 6–12)
Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Science Teacher to join our faculty. Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons is a private, Catholic school serving students in Grades 6–12, committed to academic excellence, character formation, and preparing students to become thoughtful, compassionate leaders.
The successful candidate will teach a combination of Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and Earth Science, including all New York State required laboratory experiences associated with Regents coursework. The ideal candidate will create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning while supporting the academic and personal growth of every student.
Responsibilities
- Teach sections of Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and Earth Science.
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.
- Prepare students for New York State Regents examinations and successfully administer all required laboratory experiences.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging laboratory environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Assess student learning and communicate progress regularly with students and families.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school initiatives.
- Participate fully in the life of the school through faculty meetings, professional development, and student activities.
- Support and uphold the mission and values of Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons School.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Science (Preferred, not required).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Biology, Earth Science, and Anatomy & Physiology.
- Experience teaching Regents-level science courses is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
- Willingness to support the mission of a Catholic school.
