Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Surgery Scheduler/Authorization Specialist who will also assist with front desk responsibilities. This key role is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures and securing timely, accurate insurance authorizations to ensure patients receive the care they need without delay.
The ideal candidate will have experience in medical office operations and a strong understanding of scheduling and insurance authorization processes. This individual will collaborate closely with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, colleagues, and patients to facilitate seamless communication and deliver exceptional patient service.
Details
- Schedule patients for surgical procedures and coordinate all necessary pre-operative requirements.
- Review, process, and obtain insurance authorizations for medical services, surgeries, and procedures.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage through various payer portals and communication channels.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain and submit required clinical documentation for authorization requests.
- Provide patients with guidance and updates regarding scheduled procedures, authorization status, and related requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance policies, payer guidelines, and regulatory changes that may impact the authorization process.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare facilities, and ancillary service providers to ensure timely exchange of information and seamless patient care coordination.
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner at the front desk.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient demographic, insurance, and registration information within the practice management system.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Proficient in surgery scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to a variety of healthcare services and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient and customer service.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations and a demonstrated commitment to protecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
