Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities and wants to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a growing construction company.
The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager and CFO and provides valuable support for month-end close, audits, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Payroll processing (including certified payroll)
- Accounts Payable
- General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Fixed Assets
- Construction accounting experience
- IFTA/2290 reporting
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years of accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, or related experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience with payroll processing and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Construction accounting experience.
- Experience with accounting or ERP/accounting software (Spectrum).
- Experience with accounts payable, and account reconciliations.
- Experience working with trucking, construction, transportation, or heavy equipment operations.
- Familiarity with vehicle licensing, permitting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Understanding of equipment and fleet recordkeeping practices.
