Provides a full range of professional support to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) and the Planning Commission (PC).
Specific duties include:

Assists with the development of Board of Supervisors agendas and Board packages, including web and electronic board book versions, and supports related web postings.

Maintains knowledge of Board package software and reviews Board items to ensure alignment with applicable Fairfax County codes, policies, and procedures.

Participates in ensuring that all Board of Supervisors meeting materials, including agendas, draft board packages, and final board packages, meet applicable accessibility standards and legal requirements.

Serves as the agency coordinator for Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) requests and tracks all VFOIA requests received by the office. Maintains a working knowledge of County VFOIA procedures and processes.

Responsible for entering meetings into the county’s Public Meetings calendar for the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission in accordance with VFOIA.

Manages the county-wide distribution, receipt, and filing of Statement of Economic Interests forms (to include annual and monthly filings) in accordance with state law and County Code. Maintains a liaison with the Virginia Conflict of Interest and Ethics Advisory Council on matters related to filings.

Tracks BOS and IDA members' VFOIA and COIA training. Notifies Clerk to Board and IDA members of upcoming required training and maintains records of compliance.

Staff Planning Commission evening meetings.

Conducts special projects at the direction of the division director and director
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.
BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce. However persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. Must be able to work evening hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in management, public administration, or related field

Experience working directly with elected and/or appointed officials

Experience working directly with Board, Authority, Commission, or Committee

Experience with substantial scheduling and calendar management

Experience with handling VFOIA requests

Experience with web posting

Proficient in Foxit and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Experience working with board package software such as Diligent Board Books compiling reports, correspondence, and packages for public meetings.

Experience working with Sharefile.

Experience managing financial disclosure processes including distributing forms, tracking submissions, and maintaining records.

Strong skills and significant work experience in writing, proofreading, and editing, with attention to detail

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Successful experience in working both independently and as part of a team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature, however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor; incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
