Job Summary:
Support the daily meal service by preparing meal trays, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, assisting with meal setup, and ensuring the kitchen area is organized and ready for service. This position follows CACFP meal service guidelines and all food safety and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Portion and plate meals according to CACFP meal patterns and serving sizes.
- Prepare meal trays and place meals in food warmers to maintain safe temperatures.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation areas, counters, and sinks.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and food service equipment.
- Sweep and mop kitchen, storage, and dining areas daily.
- Remove trash and recycling and maintain a clean work environment.
- Clean staff bathrooms daily.
- Restock food, paper products, and kitchen supplies.
- Set up tables and prepare for the next day's meal service.
- Follow all CACFP, health department, and food safety regulations.
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
- Report equipment maintenance or safety concerns to the Kitchen Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food Handler Certification (if required by state or local regulations).
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.
- Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments.
- Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment.
