The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Plumber IV (Plumber 4A) grade A16 position, in the Facilities Operation and Management Division.
About the Position
Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Plumber IV, grade A-16, within its Facilities Operation and Management Division. This position will work in various County facilities, including the Department of Corrections, the Office of the Sheriff and the Prince George’s Police Department. This is an essential position.
This is responsible level lead/supervisory technical work in the installation, renovation, maintenance and repair of a variety of plumbing systems, appliances and equipment. Individuals in this position may function as a project leader over subordinate plumbers and may function as an assistant to the Master Plumber. Employees may be required to work shift/day or evening hours. They must also be available on a twenty-four (24) hour basis to receive and respond to emergency service calls.

The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Participates and/or leads in the installation and maintenance of oil lines, hot water or steam distribution lines, water return lines, check valves, boiler feed lines, radiators, convectors, traps, expansion joints, pressure gauges, condensate pumps, and similar or related heating equipment.

Participates and/or leads in the installation and maintenance of hot and cold water pipes, water heating tanks, drains and sewer connections, faucets, toilet bowls and similar appliances.

Maintains records of work performed and develops periodic summaries from such records.

Observes all safety rules and practices as established by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the State of Maryland and the County.

Leads and instructs subordinated skilled workers in the performance of plumbing work.

Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class for work.

Conditions of Employment: Upon selection, the candidate must:
Possession of an appropriate license issued by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC).
Possession of a valid driver's license with no more than six (6) points.
Must be willing to respond to emergency service calls on a 24-hour basis to assist other trade positions.
Must be willing to work outdoors in any kind of weather.
Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.

Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. This is an essential position. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
