American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with at least 2 years of experience.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care, Level II Trauma hospital setting
-
35-bed stepdown unit serving adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring diagnoses
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, with nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:10 ratio

RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications

Continuous EEG monitoring is performed on this unit

EMR: Epic
-
12-hour day shifts, 0630–1900, with some night shift coverage 1830–0700
-
Every other weekend required

Every third holiday required

No on-call or standby requirement

Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab

13-week contract

Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) license required — pending licenses are not accepted

Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS — pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Epic EMR experience strongly preferred given unit usage

Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to confirm permanent address

Candidates who are currently or have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Orientation consists of onboarding during the first week followed by 1–2 days of floor-specific orientation

RNs must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% — failure to pass will result to contract termination

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments — refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
-
RTO must be requested upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO will not be approved after consideration
-
