About Atelier Domingue
We design, fabricate, finish, and install custom steel doors, windows, and architectural hardware for high-end residential projects across the U.S. Our work ships to homes where craftsmanship is the whole point, every weld and every finish gets looked at. We're hiring across multiple shop roles at our Houston facility.
Roles we're hiring for
- Grinder / Unit Testing. Surface preparation, blending welds, and functional testing of completed door and window units.
- Cutter. Saw cutting of steel stock to shop drawings.
- Fitup. Assembling door and window components to drawings and tight tolerances.
- Welder. MIG and TIG welding on architectural steel.
- Hinge Specialist. Installing custom mortised hinges. Specialized work, we'll train the right person with a solid mechanical aptitude.
- Painter / Finisher. Sandblasting, surface prep, and high-end paint finishing.
- Installer. On-site installation of finished doors and windows at custom residential projects. (Travel position)
What we offer
- Starting pay $16 to $18/hr depending on role and experience
- Defined path to a higher rate at 6 to 12 months when you've demonstrated readiness
- Paid holidays from day one
- PTO accrues starting at year one (5 days), 10 days after first year.
- Regular cost of living raises. High performers will have the opportunity to move upward.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Bilingual shop, Spanish-speaking workers welcome and well-represented on our team
What we're looking for
- Prior fab shop or metalwork experience preferred, not required for entry-level roles
- For welders: MIG and TIG with attention to weld appearance, since this is architectural work
- For fitup and hinges: precision, patience, willingness to learn a specialty over months
- Ability to read shop drawings and use basic measuring tools (tape, square, calipers)
- Reliable transportation to our Houston shop
- Strong work ethic, on-time attendance, and full day of work
