Senior Medical Receptionist – Primary Care Practice
We are seeking an experienced, highly professional, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our established primary care practice. This position is best suited for a career healthcare professional who excels in a fast-paced medical environment, demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, and takes pride in delivering an outstanding patient experience.
As the first point of contact for our patients, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong judgment, a polished professional demeanor, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient demographic information
- Monitor and coordinate multiple provider schedules to ensure efficient patient flow
- Register new patients and maintain accurate electronic medical records
- Schedule appointments and manage complex scheduling needs
- Coordinate and track pre-operative appointments and related documentation
- Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, hospitals, specialists, vendors, and pharmaceutical representatives
- Respond to patient inquiries and provide exceptional customer service
- Assist with additional front-office and administrative responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent medical receptionist experience in a physician office setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification, patient registration, and medical scheduling
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) required
- Athenahealth/AthenaOne experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Dependable, mature, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient service
