Secretary I CAP/CLERICAL WORKER - UAW Region 9
Job Overview
The Secretary I provides administrative support for Region 9. This role will act as a liaison with the membership, community partners, outside affiliates, UAW staff and report to the Region 9 Director and Assistant Director.
Job Description
- Provide high level administrative support for the regional office with strict confidentiality.
- Act as a liaison with other region & department staff, UAW staff, membership and affiliates.
- Know, interpret, and apply organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Develop, coordinate, and assess office systems and operations, including but not limited to, recordkeeping, expense reporting, internal and external communications, meetings, travel and expenses, and other areas as assigned.
- Review and process incoming correspondence and materials, as well as prepare responses as appropriate.
- Proofreading, formatting, and editing of various documents.
- Database/entry management responsibilities.
- Coordinate support for staff and members, including resolution of questions and concerns and development of processes when necessary.
- Retrieve information quickly, utilizing internal and external data resources.
- Understand, and be able to communicate, the function of the UAW and both the internal and external labor movement.
- Review, input, and reconcile Purchase Card transactions and vendor due diligence.
- Proofread and format highly visible curriculum and publications utilized by all members of the UAW.
- Run analytics and create reports as requested.
- Create call letters for conferences and process registration and payment for in-person and virtual conferences, including communications with local unions and delegates.
- Facilitate registration for the Regional Activities and calculate payouts.
- Provide back up for other Regional clerical staff as needed, up to and including ability to support activities at other locations the regional office
- Understand, and be able to communicate, the function of the UAW and both the internal and external labor movement.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Highly motivated and a self-starter
- Ability to learn department specific software (training will be provided)
