Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles to transport freight.
- Load and unload cargo manually or using equipment such as forklifts, ensuring secure placement and compliance with safety standards.
- Execute route driving efficiently while maintaining schedules and adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure and upon return.
- Manage documentation related to deliveries, including logs, delivery receipts, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered during routes.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle and ensure all safety protocols are followed during operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid CDL license; familiarity with manual transmission is preferred.
- Knowledge of operating various types of trucks such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Strong understanding of freight handling, load securing techniques, and proper unloading procedures.
- Ability to drive safely over long distances while managing route schedules efficiently.
- Experience with forklift operation for loading/unloading cargo when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and clients.
