Smith Boys Marine Group is a private, well established company. We sell and service boats and related marine products. We have an immediate opening for an Inventory / General Ledger Accountant to support the Sales and Accounting departments. The ideal candidate will be one who has a strong understanding of debits and credits, detail accuracy, enjoys multi-tasking, has knowledge of inventory control and accounting. Previous automotive dealership experience would be very helpful.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to support the sales and accounting department and specifically be responsible for boat inventory records, that includes purchases and sales of boats to the reatil public.
WORK HOURS:
Generally, this is a standard 40 hour a week job. There could be overtime in the summer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Department:
- Price the boat inventory at retail and cost
- Enter new boat purchases into our accounting and sales system
- Prepare the payment to the manufacturer .
- Process the Sales Contract and create the accounting entry
Sales Department:
- Maintain and update inventory records for units sold and transferred.
- Maintain and Update the NYS VERIFI system with sales and transfers.
- File rebates with the manufacturer as applicable.
- Prepare weekly list of inventory available for sale and distribute throughout the sales staff.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory on our Web Site.
Administrative :
* Bill, process and ecord summer slip contracts
* Bill process and record winter storgae contracts
SKILLS DESIRED:
Technical:
- Accounting knowledge
- Knowledge of Boats is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of the NYS DMV VERIFI system for inventory reporting is helpful, but not required.
- Previous auto dealership knowledge is helpful, but not required. We will train the right candidate.
Computer Knowledge:
- Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Basic IT skills helpful
- We will train the successful candidate on various industry specific programs.

SALARY:
- This is a full time position with the pay depending on experience and education.
