Position Summary:
The Drivers are responsible for transporting different types of goods from our company’s distribution centers to our various store locations in NY, MD, VA and NJ, and other states when needed or as the company expands to other states; as well as to customers homes or places of business using a truck. They are also required to perform inspections before and after a trip, and unload products from the truck to the facilities.
Job Functions
- Pickup and delivery between stores (transfers) and maintain appropriate documentation for this safety sensitive position
- Pickup and deliver to customers, must maintain company standards of customer service at all times
- Always represent the company in a positive manner
- Must immediately inform supervisor of any issues with company vehicles or equipment when they arise
- Must treat inter-company mail as an asset and get it to the appropriate locations in a timely manner
- Follow all driving laws including but not limited to traffic laws and vehicle compliance
- Maintain a safe and competent driving record as demonstrated on state Motor Vehicle Record
- Maintain a valid license
- Must be forklift certificated
- Participate in all company safety training
- Load and Unload freight, including carrying out to sales floor
- Be “customer ready” whenever you are on the stage/sales floor
- Uphold cleanliness standards (including, but not limited to, refraining from smoking in any Company- provided vehicle) in vehicles and work areas and complete weekly equipment maintenance checklist
- Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
- Be alert for possible merchandise losses. Protect all company assets and report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor
- Perform other tasks as asked by store management
- Perform inspections before and after a trip, and unload products from the truck to the facilities.
- Check condition of box(es) to ensure that there is no damage
- Load and unload cargo, or help others with loading and unloading
- Read transport documents to determine assignment details
- Operate Company vehicle in a safe manner and comply with all applicable motor vehicle and traffic laws
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles
- Assist on delivery installs for hearth and hot tubs companywide
- Other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
- Willing to drive weekly to all states that Costello’s does business in/has warehouses
- Flexible schedule, willing to work weekends and evenings when needed
- Flexible weekly hours in excess of 40
- Must have a clean driving record in accordance with the MVR and our insurance carrier
- Must have reliable transportation
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
- Must be forklift certified
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and their usage
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a team and assist others

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
