Sparkle and Sass Dance Company is a small business in La Plata, MD. We are creative, fun, and customer-centric, and our goal is to inspire confidence, instill discipline, and promote growth by providing fun and creative dance instruction with a focus on community, customer service, and a love for dance.
We are seeking an experienced Acro Teacher for the 2026-2027 season. This is a fantastic role for someone who is energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate about acrobatics and working with children. We need someone that can foster a safe, encouraging, and progressive learning environment for students of all ages and levels.
The position can start in mid-July for our summer session and continue into the fall as part of our regular dance season. Or start in September if you prefer.

Responsibilities:
- Leading acro classes and delivering structured, age-appropriate instruction for students of varying skill levels.
- Teaching foundational through advanced acro skills, including balances, rolls, handstands, walkovers, and more.
- Providing hands-on spotting and guidance to ensure proper technique and safe skill progression.
- Developing and following a progressive curriculum that builds strength, flexibility, and confidence.
- Ensuring the safety of all students during practice and skill development.
- Managing the classroom to maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning space.
- Setting up and organizing mats and equipment before and after classes.
- Communicating student progress with parents and studio leadership.
- Leading warm-up and stretching activities.
- Effectively direct and collaborate with an Assistant Teacher, providing clear guidance on tasks and empowering them to best support student learning and classroom flow.
- Other tasks as directed by studio leadership.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching acrobatics, gymnastics, or a related discipline in a studio or school setting.
- Strong knowledge of acro skill progressions and safe spotting techniques.
- A keen awareness of safety and the ability to implement best practices in the classroom.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you'll be interacting with students, parents, and fellow instructors.
- Patience, energy, and a positive attitude when working with students of all levels.
- Reliability and punctuality — we need team members our students and families can count on.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to demonstrate skills and assist with spotting.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience with Acrobatic Arts curriculum or a similar structured program.
- Experience in gymnastics, cheerleading, or competitive dance.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience working with children in a teaching or mentoring role.
- Knowledge of body mechanics and safe movement practices.
