Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw metal materials into precise, high-quality fabricated components used across construction, manufacturing, and industrial projects. Your expertise will ensure that all fabrication work adheres to safety standards, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of metal materials and advanced fabrication techniques in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship and innovation.
Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
- Operate a wide range of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW), plasma cutters, and machining tools to perform precise fabrication tasks.
- Measure and mark metal materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure exact dimensions and tolerances.
- Cut, weld, assemble, and finish sheet metal and other metal materials in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes & standards.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols during all fabrication processes to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly projects on construction sites or within fabrication shops to meet project deadlines.
- Inspect finished products for quality control using measuring instruments and visual checks; make adjustments as necessary for optimal precision.
- Maintain equipment calibration and perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Experience
- Proven construction site experience with a solid understanding of construction processes and safety procedures.
- Hands-on experience with various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, shop math, and interpreting technical drawings related to metal fabrication projects.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, plasma cutting, machining, assembly, and mechanical fabrication in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Knowledge of construction materials such as different metals used in structural applications; ability to select appropriate materials for specific projects.
- Ability to operate measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers accurately; proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Understanding of ASME codes & standards for pressure vessels or piping systems is a plus; familiarity with AWS standards is essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; capable of interpreting technical specifications accurately.
