Giro Pack, Inc. is seeking a Slitter Operator to support production operations at our Vidalia, GA. location. Currently the selected candidate will be trained Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, once training is complete the candidate will work 2nd shift, Monday - Friday (2:00pm -10pm) or 3rd Shift, Monday - Friday (10pm - 6am).
The Slitter Operator plays an integral part in the manufacturing of products within the fruit/vegetable packaging industry and is responsible for the safe/efficient operation of the slitting machines.
Slitter Operator job duties include:
- Ensuring slitting machines are operated correctly and report any shortcomings to the supervisor/maintenance in a timely manner
- Complete required production forms
- Maintain/Lube production machinery as needed
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Control and set up machine tensions/speed according to material requirements
- Change and/or replace bobbins as needed
- Verify bobbin batch sheet data/format and drying times
- Create box/pallet/RFID labels to matching product
- Follow planning order and work priorities
- Clean machines according to procedures
- Report all safety/equipment concerns to manager immediately
- Move scrap/defective material to proper location
- Conduct other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Requirements and skills:
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds etc.)
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety rules
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Very good vision and ability to handle intricate, detail oriented work
- Plastics Injection Molding/Warehouse experience is an asset, but not necessary
- Must be able/willing to work a flexible schedule
