About the Role
Leisure Creations is seeking a motivated and creative Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to drive product innovation by independently focusing on the development and validation of complex mechanical assemblies. You will be responsible for translating design concepts into high-performance mechanical systems, utilizing advanced CAD tools to analyze functionality and performance. This position is ideal for an engineer eager to take ownership of design projects and apply technical knowledge of materials and mechanisms to real-world product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design: Independently design and refine complex assemblies in SolidWorks. Ensure all mechanical designs meet performance requirements, assembly tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
- Design Validation: Utilize simulation tools to verify mechanical functionality and fit. Identify potential design conflicts early in the process and iterate on geometry to optimize performance.
- Prototyping & R&D Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D team to develop physical prototypes. Utilize 3D printers to fabricate components for rapid prototyping and validate digital designs against physical results.
- Hands-On Testing: Execute physical testing protocols on prototypes to validate digital designs. Monitor performance metrics during testing, troubleshoot mechanical failures, and apply findings to optimize real-world functionality.
- Documentation & SOP Development: Maintain accurate technical drawings, manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned projects, and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as new products are developed to ensure consistent production processes.
- Design Iteration: Apply mechanical engineering principles to optimize designs for functionality and durability, ensuring assemblies are sound for long-term operation.
- Collaboration: Proactively troubleshoot design challenges related to friction, wear, and assembly fit during the prototyping, testing, and iteration phases.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- SolidWorks Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, with a focus on parametric modeling of assemblies and practical experience using CAD design tools.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Strong academic or internship experience regarding general mechanical design principles, assembly mechanics, and component interaction.
- Additive Manufacturing: Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies to produce functional prototypes and conduct iterative design validations.
- Analytical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to independently propose and execute design improvements based on performance data and test results.
- Technical Documentation: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word) for documentation and the ability to clearly draft technical SOPs.
- Soft Skills: Analytical problem-solving abilities, a proactive approach to managing design iteration workflows, and effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.
