About the team
For this Building Substitute position, you'll be working for our middle school in center city Philadelphia called Freire Charter Middle School (5th-8th Grade): Freire Schools' youngest Dragons are preparing for college and changing what it means to be in middle school. We're constantly applying a persistent growth mindset to challenge the limits of what's possible in middle school and prepare students to succeed in a college prep high school. Freire Schools is committed to peace at all levels of its community, and aims to create a safe and welcoming environment for our middle school students.
As the Administrative Assistant, you'll play a critical role in maintaining smooth operations in the school's office, supporting the administrative team, staff, students, and parents. You'll be responsible for a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient day-to-day functioning of Freire Charter Middle School.
- Manage PowerSchool, the student information database
- Manage daily attendance and Swipe System
- Assist with substitute coverage, including covering classes when necessary
- 3rd Floor desk management and phone coverage
- Assist with PBIS Reward System Support and Implementation
- Lead various academic support tasks, including lockers, student identification photos, technology reservations, Yondr pouches etc.
- Assist with Chromebook support
- Money collection for Chromebooks, Yondr pouches, etc.
- Support the Head of Operations and Head of School with various tasks
- Manage Copier, inventory, and maintenance support
- Supply inventory including books, office supplies, water bottles, tissues, etc.

- Experience working with youth preferred

This is an 12-month, hourly role with an average of 38 hours a week during the school year and modified/decreased hours during the summer months. We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and more. Pennsylvania employees are enrolled in Freire's 403(b) retirement plan which includes a 5% contribution from Freire.
