Position Summary
The Restorative Practices Practitioner is a full-time, site-based practitioner responsible for implementing restorative practices services within an assigned school community. Practitioners build relationships with students, families, and staff; facilitate restorative interventions; support student engagement and attendance; and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and relationship-centered school climate.
The Practitioner serves as a visible and trusted member of the school community and provides services across the full Restorative Practices Continuum, including Tier 1 community-building, Tier 2 conflict resolution and harm repair, and Tier 3 re-entry and intensive restorative supports.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct Student Intervention and Support
- Conduct proactive student outreach and relationship-building activities.
- Maintain a visible presence during student arrival, transitions, and other key school activities.
- Conduct individual student check-ins and mentoring conversations.
- Provide de-escalation and re-regulation support for students experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Support development of self-awareness, self-regulation, accountability, and conflict resolution skills.
Restorative Practices Facilitation
- Facilitate Tier 1 community-building circles and relationship-building activities.
- Conduct restorative conversations and restorative questioning processes.
- Facilitate responsive circles and harm repair processes.
- Support mediation and conflict resolution efforts involving students and staff.
- Facilitate Tier 3 re-entry circles and restorative interventions for students returning from suspension, chronic absenteeism, alternative placement, or other significant disruptions.
Family Engagement and Community Support
- Serve as a liaison between home and school.
- Maintain communication with families of students receiving restorative supports.
- Encourage family participation in restorative processes.
- Assist families in accessing school-based and community resources.
- Support family engagement activities and events.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Participate in Student Success Team meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, attendance reviews, and school climate meetings.
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, social workers, and support staff.
- Provide restorative practices consultation as requested.
- Support school-wide restorative culture and climate initiatives.
Documentation, Data Collection, and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely records of interventions and services provided.
- Utilize district-approved documentation and reporting systems.
- Track student participation, attendance, behavioral outcomes, and restorative interventions.
- Prepare monthly activity summaries and other required reports.
- Participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, human services, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience working with youth in educational, community-based, or human services settings.
- Ability to work on-site at an assigned school in Santa Ana and be present during student arrival and transition times.
- Training and experience in restorative practices, mediation, or conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Latino youth and families.
- Experience facilitating circles, conferences, mediation, or restorative interventions.
- Experience working in schools or youth-serving organizations.
- Completion of Akoben DRA-100 and DRA-200 training (or willingness to complete prior to placement).
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
