The Surgical Clinic (TSC) is a group of private practice surgeons representing many specialties of surgical practice to develop patient-focused, conveniently located places to give patients access to needed surgical procedures close to home. Since its founding in 1997, The Surgical Clinic has continued to attract talented surgeons, becoming one of Middle Tennessee’s most respected practices.
TSC specializes in bariatric surgery, breast surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry, surgical oncology surgery, vascular & endovascular surgery, and veins. In addition, TSC has established several Vascular Procedure Centers, TSC prosthetics and accredited ultrasound labs.
Position Summary
Scheduling and pre-creating all surgeries and tests ordered by surgeons during their clinics. Instructing patients in pre- surgical and pre-test preparation. Briefly helping patients understand financial responsibilities and how insurance deductibles and coinsurance work. Recording all facility-based charges. Maintaining a positive attitude and good working relationship with patients, doctors, coworkers, and facilities. This registered nurse can be self-directed and act independently and intervene as appropriate to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physician to ensure maximum efficiency

Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies

Keep rooms and equipment clean between procedures

Obtain lab test and other reports for physician review

Schedule and Order tests

Precert tests and surgeries

Collect, label and document lab specimens
-
Obtain vital signs, ascertain seriousness of patient complaints, and begin appropriate measures and document in patient record

Triage Patient phone calls
-
Provide physician instructions
-
Schedule patients for tests and/or to other physician offices

Contact patient of test results or surgeries

Contact pharmacy regarding orders/changes etc.

Perform other tasks as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- Current Tennessee RN License, Graduate of an accredited School of nursing

Current Basic life support (BLS) certification required

Knowledge of Medications and effects

Ability to develop and communicate self-care programs

Complete charts, charge tickets, review and verify Codes for physician charges

Maintain Quality OSHA Controls/HIPAA compliant

Sterile techniques and process
