Terra Contracting, Inc. is a rapidly growing utility contractor specializing in underground utility construction, natural gas infrastructure, fiber optic installation, telecommunications, electrical infrastructure, directional drilling, hydro excavation, asphalt paving, concrete restoration, and utility maintenance.
We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter to support our engineering and operations teams by preparing accurate construction drawings, utility layouts, permit packages, and as-built documentation for utility infrastructure projects throughout Southern Nevada.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring our field teams have accurate plans that support the successful execution of underground utility construction projects.
Position Overview
The CAD Drafter is responsible for creating, modifying, organizing, and maintaining technical drawings and project documentation for underground utility construction projects.
The ideal candidate has experience working with utility construction plans, civil engineering drawings, telecommunications infrastructure, or similar construction environments and enjoys collaborating with Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel to deliver high-quality construction documents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and maintain CAD drawings for underground utility construction projects.
- Develop utility layouts, construction plans, permit exhibits, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD.
- Interpret engineering plans, specifications, field notes, and survey information.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Revise drawings based on redlines, field changes, and customer requirements.
- Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation.
- Support permitting, project planning, and construction documentation activities.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and material verification when required.
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable utility specifications.
- Support multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Experience within utility construction, civil engineering, telecommunications, infrastructure, or related industries preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and construction drafting principles.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, utility plans, engineering documents, and specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience preparing as-built drawings is highly preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
