Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Center Director to lead our educational institution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education administration and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. This role requires strategic planning and budgeting expertise, along with a passion for fostering an enriching learning environment. The Center Director will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring that educational programs meet the highest standards. Perform educational work involving the supervision of a Head Start or Child Development Center staff, consisting of early head start and pre-school children. Considerable tact, independent judgement, and discretion are required in working with the parents of participants and supervisory activities. Work is under the supervision of the Education Manager and is evaluated through conferences, written reports, and observation of work in progress.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance educational offerings and operational efficiency.
- Manage the center's budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support programs and initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Oversee the administration of educational programs, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with faculty to enhance curriculum development and teaching methodologies.
- Engage with students, parents, and the community to promote the center's mission and values.
- Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and implement improvements as necessary.
- Supervise Head Start or Child Development center staff consisting of NC Pre-K Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Early Head Start Teachers, Kitchen Managers, Center Aides, Custodians, and Volunteers.
- Administer screening tests to each child, demonstration teaching, and orientation of new staff, conduct conferences with parents, and maintain monthly center reports.
- Report all suspected child abuse/neglect cases to supervisor.
- Serve in a planning or coordinating capacity for other portions of the child development program including career development, long-range curriculum planning training, staff development and parent training, weekly staff meetings, observation of classrooms, monthly staff meetings, and conferences with parents.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining confidential student and education records system.
- Assist with completing all forms in accordance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) so that these funds are used as the primary source of payment for meal services.
- Assist in working with local LEA’s to prepare parents for transition to the public school by involving children in transitional activities and maintain communication between Head Start staff, parents, and public school.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Knowledge of child growth and development of programs to appropriately meet physical, mental, and social needs of children along with good health practices.
- Knowledge of techniques of organizing and planning program activities and procurement of required supplies and equipment.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with early head start and pre-school children, parents, staff and community partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to the above.
Experience
- Proven experience in management within an educational setting is essential.
- Strong background in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team development and motivation.
- Experience in education administration is highly desirable, preferably within a university context.
- Teaching experience is a plus, providing insight into curriculum development and student engagement strategies.
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Three years teaching experience of pre-school children.
- One year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Also, should possess administrative skills and the ability to work with other staff members and institutions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Obtain a DCDEE Qualification Letter
- Pass a pre-hire drug test
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,448.72 - $42,479.00 per year
