Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced Supermarket Store Manager to lead the daily operations and financial performance of our full-service grocery store.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for sales growth, gross margins, payroll, inventory, shrink control, department performance, customer service, and overall profitability. The Store Manager must be visible on the sales floor and capable of leading Grocery, Meat, Produce, Deli, Dairy, Frozen, Front End, and Receiving.
Previous supermarket or grocery-management experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of store sales, profitability, labor, inventory, shrink, and customer service.
- Manage and hold department managers accountable for daily and weekly results.
- Review sales, gross margins, COGS, payroll, overtime, shrink, waste, and cash variances.
- Prepare employee schedules based on store traffic, sales, and departmental needs.
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, prices are accurate, and advertised promotions are properly displayed.
- Monitor ordering, receiving, invoices, vendor credits, markdowns, spoilage, and damaged merchandise.
- Investigate inventory shortages, pricing errors, excessive waste, and unusual transactions.
- Maintain strong controls over cash, refunds, voids, discounts, coupons, and deposits.
- Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate employees.
- Address poor performance, attendance problems, and policy violations promptly.
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, food safety, product freshness, and customer service.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and build strong community relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable health, safety, employment, alcohol, and tobacco regulations.
- Provide ownership with accurate performance reports and corrective action plans.

Qualifications
- At least 5 years of supermarket or grocery-retail experience.
- At least 3 years as a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager, or similar grocery leadership role.
- Experience managing multiple grocery departments, including fresh departments.
- Strong knowledge of grocery margins, COGS, payroll percentages, inventory, shrink, and store profitability.
- Experience with ordering, receiving, pricing, merchandising, scheduling, and cash controls.
- Ability to read financial and operational reports and take corrective action.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
Preferred Experience
- Managing a full-service supermarket with Meat, Produce, Deli, and Grocery departments.
- Improving the performance of an underperforming grocery store.
- Working with grocery POS, inventory, scheduling, and reporting systems.
