Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be Grade 12: $49,928 - $54,074; Grade 16: $57,596 - $73,497; Grade 19: $64,942 - $97,811 based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Department of General Services, Fleet Management Services is seeking Mechanics that are highly skilled or have good aptitude to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, diesel, alternative fuel and/or gasoline powered buses and related equipment.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
An employee is this position will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical work involving the inspection, preventive maintenance and repair of transit buses, and/or a wide variety of complex light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment (such as dump trucks, cement mixers, excavators, graders, loaders, back-hoes, rollers, various types of tractors, trenchers, tow trucks, and street sweepers, etc.).

Work is generally performed in a centralized maintenance facility (including machine shop, highway maintenance depot, on the road, landfills, or wherever a break down occurs) in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods.

Must have the ability to continuously bend, reach, stretch, lift, stoop, climb and crouch often on top of, in, and under vehicles and engines in cramped and awkward positions.

Performance of the work involves exposure to loud noises, vibrations, dust, dirt and grease.

Employees perform physically strenuous work while standing, lying down, or sitting; and pull, push, lift and carry items which weigh up to 100 pounds, and occasionally items in excess of 100 pounds.
