Our client is seeking an experienced Municipal Team Lead to oversee a growing municipal engineering team and lead the successful delivery of public infrastructure projects. This is an outstanding opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys combining technical leadership, project management, and client relationship management while helping shape the future of municipal communities.
In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, manage complex municipal projects from planning through construction, and serve as a trusted advisor to municipalities and public sector clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage municipal engineering projects from planning, design, permitting, and construction through project completion.
- Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, and overall project performance.
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff while supporting their professional development.
- Review engineering plans, specifications, reports, studies, calculations, and construction documents for technical accuracy and quality.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal clients, building long-term relationships and ensuring exceptional client service.
- Attend client meetings, council meetings, planning commission meetings, and public presentations as required.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support business development initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership on municipal infrastructure projects, including water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater management, roadway improvements, utility infrastructure, parks, recreation facilities, and capital improvement programs.
- Oversee permitting and regulatory approvals while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all projects meet company quality assurance and quality control standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, engineering standards, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive civil or municipal engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of project management and client management experience.
- Proven experience delivering municipal infrastructure and public sector projects.
- Strong knowledge of roadway, stormwater, water distribution, wastewater collection, utility infrastructure, and capital improvement projects.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, permitting requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with engineering design software and project management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and client service.
