Position Summary
The Shift Leader is responsible for assisting management with daily restaurant operations, supervising crew members, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food safety standards, and overseeing cleanliness throughout the restaurant. Shift Leaders are expected to lead by example, hold team members accountable, and ensure the restaurant operates efficiently during their shift.
Essential ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Lead and supervise crew members during assigned shifts.
- Delegate tasks and ensure all responsibilities are completed efficiently.
- Train and coach team members on company standards, procedures, and guest service expectations.
- Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and service.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
- Address minor employee concerns and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Customer Service
- Ensure every guest receives friendly, accurate, and efficient service.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Maintain a positive guest experience and uphold Moe's service standards.
- Assist team members during peak business periods to ensure smooth operations.
Food Safety & Quality
- Ensure food is prepared according to company recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations.
- Monitor food holding times, temperatures, and product quality.
- Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Verify that all food preparation and storage procedures are followed correctly.
Cleaning & Restaurant Maintenance
- Ensure the restaurant remains clean, organized, and guest-ready throughout the shift.
- Oversee completion of cleaning schedules and side work assignments.
- Verify dishes, utensils, equipment, dining areas, restrooms, and kitchen areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Conduct shift walk-throughs to identify and correct cleanliness issues.
- Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, trash removal, and deep cleaning projects as needed.
- Ensure opening and closing cleaning procedures are completed thoroughly.
Operations & Cash Handling
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Count drawers and handle cash according to company procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to management.
- Ensure proper labor utilization and team productivity throughout the shift.
- Complete required shift paperwork, logs, and reports accurately.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant experience required.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or shift management experience preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work near hot equipment and cleaning chemicals safely.
