Position Summary
We are looking for dependable and respectful team members who take pride in hospitality, teamwork, cleanliness, and consistent execution. Our team works together to create a welcoming environment for military members, veterans, community heroes, local families, visitors, and every guest who walks through our doors.
The Cook / Prep Cook prepares ingredients, recipe components, and menu items that support efficient kitchen service. This position follows standardized recipes, production lists, food-safety procedures, portion standards, labeling requirements, and cleaning expectations.
Depending on experience, training, and business needs, the Cook / Prep Cook may also assist line cooks or work assigned cooking stations.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily preparation and production lists accurately and within assigned timeframes.
- Wash, cut, chop, slice, portion, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and specifications.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, batters, sides, proteins, vegetables, and other recipe components.
- Measure and portion food accurately to maintain quality, consistency, and food-cost standards.
- Follow standardized recipes and presentation requirements.
- Label, date, rotate, and store food properly using first-in, first-out practices.
- Inspect ingredients for freshness and report shortages, spoilage, damage, or quality concerns.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, allergen-control, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
- Maintain clean and sanitized preparation surfaces, tools, equipment, storage areas, refrigerators, and floors.
- Receive, inspect, organize, and properly store deliveries when assigned.
- Assist line cooks during service and work assigned cooking stations when trained and scheduled.
- Complete opening, closing, side-work, and deep-cleaning assignments.
- Help maintain organized dry-storage, refrigerated, and freezer areas.
- Support inventory organization and help minimize food waste.
- Communicate clearly with kitchen leadership and other team members.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and management instructions.
- Cross-train and assist in other restaurant areas when business needs require.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have a current Food Safety Certification or agree to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to follow recipes, preparation lists, written instructions, and verbal directions.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to cross-train and assist in other areas of the restaurant.
- Commitment to professional conduct, teamwork, and exceptional hospitality consistent with “Serving Those Who Serve.”
- Ability to pass a background check if required by company policy or applicable law.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a prep cook, cook, kitchen team member, food-production worker, or restaurant employee.
- Basic knife skills.
- Experience following standardized recipes and portion specifications.
- Night and weekend availability.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Positive, respectful, and team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to remain organized and productive in a fast-paced kitchen.
Schedule Requirements
Scheduling is based on business needs and may include:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Night shifts
- Weekend shifts
- Holiday shifts
Night and weekend availability is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Employees in this position must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, and move throughout the kitchen.
- Work in hot, cold, refrigerated, humid, or wet environments.
- Safely use knives, food processors, slicers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment after training.
- Safely handle food products, cleaning chemicals, hot surfaces, and sharp tools.
- Perform repetitive food-preparation and cleaning tasks.

Work Environment
This position works in a commercial restaurant kitchen and may be exposed to:

Work assignments may shift between food preparation, cooking, receiving, storage, inventory organization, dishwashing, and cleaning duties.
