American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring at least 1 year of experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Medical Surgical unit in a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
-
Acute care patients with diagnoses including infection, renal, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, ortho, bariatric, pre-transplant, observation, psychology, long stay, and COVID
-
High patient turnover with a wide variety of conditions due to ED patient placement
-
Patient ratios of 4:1 on days and 5:1 on all other shifts

Night shift schedule (4x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
-
Every third weekend required
-
Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
-
No on-call requirements
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Uses Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BiPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales
-
Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)

BLS and ACLS certification required
-
CPI certification preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required; 2 years preferred, or 1+ years with Level I Trauma/teaching facility experience considered

Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required

Tracheostomy care and management experience required

Respiratory care experience required
-
Care for a diverse range of acute care patients with varying lengths of stay, from a few hours to extended stays during high census periods

Receive additional required training to manage the variety of patient conditions on this unit

Navy scrub color required
-
Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered for this position

No more than 7 days of RTO permitted during the 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week
-
Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
-
Standard travelers may work up to 18 months at BJC facilities, followed by a required 3-month break in service
