American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool assignment in the Garden City, KS zone, requiring at least 2 years of MS-Tele experience and a willingness to float across multiple facilities within a 60-mile radius.

Acute care hospital setting with no single home base facility — travelers float across Zone 4, which covers three facilities within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, KS

Float pool encompasses multiple MS-Tele units spanning specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs

Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity

Heparin drip titration required

Respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP in use on units

Nurse aides available on units

Charting in Epic; experience preferred

Alaris pump experience preferred

12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule

Schedules are set by leadership on a 6-week rolling basis; travelers are expected to remain flexible to fill scheduling gaps

May be assigned to a single facility for the week with internal floating, or assigned to a facility 1–2 hours before shift start (Just-In-Time/JIT scheduling)

May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low-acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
-
Designated charge nurse on each unit; charge does not typically take a patient assignment, though night shift charge may carry a small assignment when needed
-
On-call or standby requirements are rare and typically related to low census

13-week contract

Active KS RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
-
Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years
-
A valid driver's license is required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Permanent residence must be at least 60 miles from the Garden City, KS zone center to qualify for travel rates

Travelers are hired into Zone 4 (centered around Garden City, KS) and are expected to float among all facilities within the zone: Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (Ulysses, KS), St. Catherine – Dodge City (Dodge City, KS), and St. Catherine – Garden City (Garden City, KS)

It is the traveler's responsibility to secure housing that allows them to float throughout the full 60-mile zone

Travelers must be physically present in Kansas for the week of orientation, even if initial orientation modules are completed remotely
-
All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment

May be asked to participate in the holiday rotation

Prior neuro experience is preferred

Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Interview is conducted with the MedSol Clinical Team; no unit manager involvement
