Position Title: Assistant Director of Resilient Schools

Reports To: Director of Youth Initiatives
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Resilient Schools is a leadership role primarily responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and growth of youth-focused programs and restorative practices within Chatham County Schools. This position advances The Mediation Center’s mission by strengthening youth engagement, expanding community partnerships, and promoting conflict resolution and leadership development among young people.
Working closely with the Director of Youth Initiatives, this role contributes to program strategy, cross-sector collaboration, and the delivery of impactful services for youth, families, schools, and community partners.
Supervisory Responsibility: This role may provide oversight and direction to program support staff, including coordinating tasks, providing guidance, and supporting performance development.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage the Peer Mediation and Building Resilient Schools Program with support from interns
- Support the expansion of youth programming and restorative practices in collaboration with the Director of Youth Initiatives
- Contribute to program development and ongoing enhancement
Youth Engagement and Community Partnerships
- Represent The Mediation Center at community events, meetings, and partnerships to increase youth engagement and organizational visibility
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, community partners, and stakeholders
- Actively participate in internal and external meetings to support program alignment and collaboration
Restorative Practices and Training
- Manage and facilitate restorative conference cases involving youth and families
- Assist with facilitating restorative trainings and workshops
- Support the implementation of Building Resilient Schools initiatives
Program Operations, Data, and Compliance
- Maintain program data, reporting, and documentation
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements
- Support data collection efforts and program evaluation
Communications and Outreach
- Promote program visibility and engagement through outreach efforts
Professional Development and Special Projects
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in youth development, restorative practices, and conflict resolution
- Manage and support special projects as assigned
- Complete Civil, General, and Domestic Mediation training within 1 year of hire. This comprehensive training will enhance your mediation skills and contribute to your professional growth and the overall success of our organization.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in youth development, education, mediation, or related field
- Experience working with youth, schools, or community-based programs preferred

Compensation
Salary Range: $55,000-60,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and demonstrated leadership capacity, in alignment with the organization’s salary band structure for Assistant/Associate Director roles.
