SUMMARY STATEMENT / POSITION OVERVIEW
The Safety & Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily compliance, maintenance, safety programs, and administrative functions of the company's fleet. This position ensures all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations while promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all vehicle registrations, permits, insurance policies, and titles remain current and compliant with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain compliance with all industry, company, and governmental safety standards and regulations.
- Manage and maintain all fleet and driver records, including driver qualification files, certifications, training records, random testing programs, and Hours of Service compliance.
- Perform driver log audits to ensure compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and vehicle repairs; perform minor repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with all departments to integrate safety policies and best practices into daily operations.
- Investigate, document, and manage incidents, accidents, and claims to minimize company liability and ensure appropriate care and follow-up.
- Conduct and assist with driver training, road tests, orientation, and ongoing safety education programs.
- Research, develop, and implement maintenance and fuel programs that improve fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Audit and maintain all fleet fuel cards and related records.
- Analyze fleet performance data and prepare reports as needed.
- Assist with budget planning and cost-control initiatives related to fleet operations.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
DRIVER RECRUITMENT & HIRING SUPPORT
- Participate in the recruitment, screening, interviewing, and selection of commercial drivers.
- Review driver qualifications, safety records, employment history, and compliance documentation to ensure candidates meet company standards.
- Partner with management to identify staffing needs and support workforce planning efforts.
- Assist with onboarding activities, including orientation, safety training, road testing, and new-hire compliance requirements.
- Promote the company's safety culture and operational expectations throughout the hiring process.
Pay: $53,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
