Full Job Description

Carrollwood Day School is seeking a Middle School Volleyball Coach to join our Athletics team.
The ideal candidate will be someone who strives to build a highly competitive and challenging
program for the CDS student-athletes while supporting the school’s mission. They should be
someone who will inspire a love of the sport and will be passionate about working with and
supporting student athletes.

Carrollwood Day School (www.CDSPatriots.org) is an innovative International Baccalaureate
(IB) independent school located in North Tampa, FL. Since the inception of CDS in 1982, we
have prided ourselves on being a community of learners. We have grown from a preschool into
a comprehensive program serving more than 1,200 students from age two through 12th grade.

The Position of Middle School Volleyball Coach:
As a cooperative member of the Athletics team, a coach is someone who strives to build a
highly competitive and challenging program for the CDS student-athletes while supporting the
school’s mission. Carrollwood Day School is committed to offering a rewarding athletic
experience for the students while maintaining high academic standards. A CDS coach is an
individual who seeks excellence on a daily basis while teaching life skills that will benefit the
student-athletes within the program for many years to come. This is a seasonal, stipend only
position.

Job Responsibilities:

Authentically support and advance the Mission of the School
Participate in professional development activities and display a growth mindset
Assist with the entire Volleyball program across the Middle School level
Work with the Athletic Director to schedule games and tournaments for the Middle

School teams

Develop and foster a positive culture for the sport and ensure continuity across the

Middle School level

Work with the athletic department to provide opportunities for instruction and skill

development for Middle School students

Act as a positive role model in all settings and foster an environment of respect, integrity

and responsibility

Help maintain high standards of sportsmanship and fair play in all facets of the athletic

program

Adhere to all rules of the Florida West Coast League, Florida High School Athletic

Association, and the National Federation of High Schools as well as the Carrollwood Day
School Coaches Handbook

Exemplify a sense of professionalism at all times which includes game and practice

times, with opponents, parents, faculty, staff and administration

Attend all required meetings or events for FWCL as requested by the CDS athletic

department

Encourage participation and interest in Volleyball within the student body
Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs, meetings,

and other professional trainings and activities

Model and foster professional standards of communication, personal presentation,

punctuality, professional courtesy, collegiality, respect, and discretion

Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes Needed for Success:

Coaching experience is preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate flexibility, and work

autonomously and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals

A leader with extraordinarily high expectations of her/himself and the ability to inspire

and motivate others

Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide range of constituents
