POSITION GOAL
To provide a high level of expertise of heavy equipment operation and functions in order to maximize a safe environment for students and employees of Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. *Work hours and locations will change as the need arises. Perform all duties according to scheduled hours and locations as assigned.
2. *Assure the safety of children comes first.
3. *Abide by all security procedures.
4. *Represent Volusia County School Board (VCSB) and the Department with a positive and professional service oriented demeanor.
5. *Work as part of a team by establishing and maintaining working relationships that foster efficiency, productivity, quality results, and promote cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
6. *Satisfactorily complete the on-site operational testing of chain saw operation, asphalt and concrete repair, and chain link repair when directed.
7. *Responsible for the operation of heavy duty equipment such as forklift, front end loader, back hoe, bucket truck, dump truck and various types of tractors with related equipment as assigned.
8. *Operate heavy equipment used to relocate portable classrooms and assist in the set-up and removal.
9. *Assist or conduct repairs of catch basins and storm water run-offs.
10. *Responsible for trimming and cutting trees.
11. *Responsible for assigned mowing operations.
12. *Responsible for the patchwork of driveways, parking lots and sidewalks as needed.
13. *Responsible for the repair of chain link fences as required.
14. *Operate other equipment required to fulfill the mission.
15. *Prepare and maintain accurate reports and all related lists/ forms for each job and submit to supervisory personnel as required.
16. *Assist in the assessment, planning and implementation of preventive maintenance procedures.
17. *Effectively communicate verbally and in writing as assigned.
18. *Conduct a daily review and maintenance of assigned equipment and vehicles.
19. *Report any damage/dangerous or hazardous situations related to work orders, equipment or vehicles to supervisor.
20. *Maintain a clean orderly work environment which includes equipment and service vehicles.
21. *Abide by and support safety rules/ standards when using tools and equipment, which includes wearing required safety equipment and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements.
22. *Wear provided designated departmental uniforms.
23. *Attend and/ or conduct cross-training sessions with others in the Division and apply skills/ knowledge obtained.
24. *Respond during times of disaster/ emergency, as the need arises, including evenings and weekends.
25. *Perform effectively in emergency situations.
26. *Operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505.
27. *Provide personal tools as required, to perform assigned work
28. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisors, Multi-Trades.
FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS:
29. *Operate the trash clam truck in collection of debris and yard waste as required by the pre-determined schedule.
30. *Operate the garbage vehicle for collection and disposal of garbage as required by the pre-determined schedule.
31. *Operate the sludge truck for collect and disposal of sludge on an as needed basis
