Senior Accountant – Multi-Entity Accounting

About the Opportunity
The Midtown Group is partnering with a growing real estate organization in Annapolis to hire a versatile and highly organized Senior Accountant.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys variety, ownership, and exposure to multiple areas of the business. You will support accounting activity across a large portfolio of real estate, development, and asset-management entities while working closely with the Controller and company leadership.
The organization is open to an experienced Senior Accountant or a strong Staff Accountant who is ready to advance into a more responsible role.
What You’ll Do
- Support accounting activities across a portfolio of approximately 90 business entities
- Complete monthly closing activities for designated operating entities
- Assist with year-end close, reporting, and tax support across the broader portfolio
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice review, payment processing, and check preparation
- Process deposits and partner contributions related to development activities
- Support capital calls, loan requisitions, refinancing activity, and property transactions
- Coordinate with outside tax accountants and respond to documentation requests
- Answer accounting and operational questions from partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records across development and asset-management entities
- Assist with annual insurance renewals and certificates of insurance
- Handle special projects and adjust priorities as business needs change
What We’re Looking For
- At least two years of professional accounting experience
- Experience supporting multiple companies, properties, funds, locations, business units, or legal entities
- Strong general ledger, journal entry, reconciliation, and closing experience
- Hands-on accounts payable and financial-reporting experience
- Ability to independently organize competing priorities and respond to urgent requests
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative accounting team
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred but not required for candidates with strong, relevant accounting experience.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful:
- Real estate development or investment
- Property management
- Construction accounting
- Multi-entity or multi-company accounting
- Capital calls or partner contributions
- Property sales or refinancing transactions
- Loan requisitions or development draws
- Coordination with outside tax professionals
- Sage 300, AppFolio, Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or comparable accounting systems
Prior Sage 300 or AppFolio experience is helpful but not required. Training can be provided to candidates with strong accounting fundamentals.
Schedule
This is an onsite position in Annapolis. The organization offers flexibility with daily start and end times, including schedules such as:
- 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Occasional remote work may be approved when unexpected personal circumstances arise, but this is not a regularly scheduled hybrid position.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of approximately $85,000–$95,000
