Position Overview
PSC Associates is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to support a major aviation infrastructure program at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
This position functions in an Owner's Representative environment and is responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and supporting mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC construction activities within an active airport operating environment. The successful candidate will work closely with project leadership, contractors, consultants, airport stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and commissioning teams to help deliver critical building systems through construction, turnover, and occupancy.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Monitoring & Project Oversight
- Monitor construction progress and contractor performance for mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct routine field walks to verify progress, identify issues, and maintain awareness of ongoing construction activities.
- Track project milestones, schedule commitments, and potential impacts to project delivery.
- Participate in pull-planning sessions, coordination meetings, and construction progress reviews.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with CBP, airlines, airport stakeholders, tenants, operational groups, airlines, and regulatory agencies impacted by construction activities.
- Support planning and communication for phased construction, shutdowns, testing activities, and operational impacts.
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractor MEP teams and project participants to facilitate issue resolution and project awareness.
Technical Review & Coordination
- Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, testing documentation, and construction deliverables.
- Assist in identifying and resolving constructability, sequencing, and system integration challenges.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and project leadership regarding technical issues affecting project delivery.
Commissioning & Turnover Support
- Support commissioning, startup, testing, balancing, and turnover activities.
- Coordinate with Fire Department personnel, AHJs, inspectors, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Assist with punch list management, deficiency tracking, closeout activities, and occupancy readiness efforts.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation including meeting minutes, action item logs, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and status reports.
- Prepare project updates and executive summaries for project leadership.
- Utilize project management and document control platforms to support project reporting and coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry performing project management, construction management, owner's representative, or project oversight duties related to mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.
- Experience working in an Owner's Representative, Program Management, Construction Management, or similar project oversight environment is desirable.
- Experience with commissioning, startup, testing, balancing, turnover, and occupancy activities is strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating with Fire Departments, AHJs, inspectors, or regulatory agencies is preferred.
- Experience working on airport, transportation, healthcare, institutional, or large public infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts.
- Strong communication, stakeholder coordination, relationship management, and organizational skills.
- Experience with project management software, scheduling tools, and document control systems.
