The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The PSR Teacher is responsible for providing faith formation and religious education to children and youth participating in the Parish School of Religion (PSR) program at Annunciation Catholic Church. This position supports the parish's mission of evangelization by fostering students' understanding of Catholic teachings, Scripture, prayer, sacraments, and Christian living. The PSR Teacher creates a welcoming, engaging, and faith-centered learning environment that encourages spiritual growth and active participation in the Catholic faith.
- Plan and teach religious education lessons in accordance with the approved parish and diocesan curriculum.
- Foster students' knowledge and understanding of Catholic doctrine, traditions, Scripture, and prayer.
- Prepare students for sacramental formation as assigned.
- Create a safe, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment that supports learning and spiritual development.
- Encourage student participation in prayer, worship, and parish life.
- Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behavior in a positive and consistent manner.
- Take attendance and maintain required records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, parish staff, and program leadership regarding student progress and program activities.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, retreats, and catechetical formation opportunities.
- Support parish events, liturgies, and faith formation activities as requested.
- Adhere to all diocesan policies, Safe Environment requirements, and parish procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and parish information.
- Serve as a positive role model of Catholic values and Christian conduct.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and committed to living and sharing the Catholic faith.
- Knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, Scripture, and sacramental preparation.
- Previous teaching, catechetical, youth ministry, or volunteer experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage students of various ages and learning styles.
- Demonstrated patience, dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, parish staff, volunteers, and families.
- Willingness to participate in required catechist formation and ongoing faith development.
- Basic computer proficiency for communication and record-keeping purposes.
- Successful completion of required background checks, Safe Environment training, and any diocesan certification requirements.
