Microtrenching Foreman
Parker Communications is seeking an experienced Microtrenching Foreman to lead specialized equipment operations and oversee microtrenching construction projects in Gilbert, Arizona. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and safe completion of microtrenching work from start to finish.
You'll be responsible for leading a crew, operating microtrenching machinery, managing site setup, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
This is not an entry-level position — prior experience in microtrenching operations and crew leadership is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise microtrenching crew during excavation and fiber installation.
- Oversee setup, operation, and breakdown of project sites.
- Ensure proper maintenance, inspection, and operation of all equipment.
- Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure timely project delivery.
- Review and interpret blueprints and construction documents specific to microtrenching.
- Support project scheduling to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, local codes, and company standards.
- Communicate progress updates and any field issues to project managers.
- Hold crew accountable to quality and safety standards on a daily basis.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience operating and overseeing microtrenching equipment and crews.
- Knowledge of underground fiber optic construction.
- Experience with mini excavators, trenchers, and related heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with underground boring and trenching methods is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Local candidates preferred (some on-call duties required).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (must pass MVR check).
- Must pass a background check.
- Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
- Strong work ethic, leadership ability, and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and operating heavy equipment.
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, or on-call as required.
