The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Turnpikes, has a full-time vacancy for a Toll Shift Supervisor.
SUMMARY :
To manage, oversee and supervise the operation of a toll plaza on the NH Turnpikes System, to include security, revenue, traffic counts, personnel and public contact during a designated shift.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience : Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school
License/Certification : Valid driver’s license

1. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency.
2. Must be able to stand for most of the shift
3. Must be able to frequently bend, stretch, grip, reach, and twist
4. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
5. Must be able to work exposed to various climates
6. Must maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supervising and evaluating staff, and planning, coordinating, and directing work. Experience involving the handling of cash and making change.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs supervisory functions at one or more toll plazas with responsibility for toll collection activities and training in compliance with Bureau procedures related to personnel and toll collection.
Manages the security and accountability of toll revenue, access to the toll facility building, grounds and booths. Verifies revenue dates and prepares toll revenue for pick up by the contracted money vendor.
Supervises work performance of subordinate employees, recommends leave and conducts performance evaluations.
Prepares weekly work schedules for review by toll management and assigns and schedules toll personnel according to traffic demands as needed. Performs toll collection for continuity of operations when needed.
Summarizes final audit reports to identify and recommend training based on performance and program objectives.
Monitors and reports Toll Collection System (TCS) malfunctions or anomalies to the contracted TCS vendor using Maintenance Online Management System (MOMS) or by directly contacting the TCS vendor to address system malfunctions that may result in loss of toll revenue.
Prepares records and reports involving but not limited to safety, state property damage, TCS equipment functionality and traffic statistics.
Communicates information to the Transportation Management Center (TMC) to report weather events, motor vehicle accidents, and traffic delay information or request emergency services for the motoring public.
Coordinates building maintenance repairs with Maintenance Mechanic personnel and performs and organizes housekeeping duties and snow clearing in and around the tollbooth and within the toll plaza.
