Position Overview
Cobra Trading is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Series 7 Registered Broker to join our early-morning brokerage team.
This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have meaningful personal or professional trading experience, a strong understanding of U.S. equity markets, and direct knowledge of short selling, hard-to-borrow securities, stock locates, the securities lending process, and firm/account risk management.
This position begins at 4:00 AM and is designed for a dependable, energetic early riser who is ready to take ownership of critical premarket responsibilities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a go-getter attitude who can work effectively in a fast-moving, time-sensitive environment.
The primary responsibilities of this position include managing Cobra Trading’s locate processes, helping maintain and develop relationships with both existing and new locate vendors, communicating the firm’s inventory and service needs, performing brokerage and operational functions, assisting with firm risk monitoring, and servicing existing clients.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and support the firm’s early-morning stock locate processes
- Review and process locate requests involving hard-to-borrow and short-sale securities
- Help manage relationships with the firm’s existing locate vendors and securities lending partners
- Communicate regularly with locate vendors regarding inventory, availability, pricing, service levels, and the firm’s evolving needs
- Assist in evaluating vendor performance, locate coverage, responsiveness, and pricing competitiveness
- Identify potential inventory gaps and work with vendors and internal teams to address client and firm locate needs
- Communicate with clearing firms, internal teams, vendors, and clients
- Understand and evaluate locate availability, pricing, quantities, and related requirements
- Monitor short positions, trading activity, account exposure, and firm risk
- Assist with real-time risk management and escalation of unusual account or market activity
- Perform daily brokerage and operational tasks
- Provide trade support and order-entry assistance
- Service and manage relationships with existing clients
- Provide support for direct-access trading platforms and Level II applications
- Respond quickly and accurately to client requests and inquiries
- Help identify and resolve trade, locate, account, vendor, and operational issues
- Maintain accurate records and follow applicable supervisory and compliance procedures
- Take on additional responsibilities as the firm and position continue to evolve
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- 3 plus years of personal or professional trading experience
- Previous experience working for an online or direct-access broker
- Strong knowledge of U.S. equity markets
- Experience with or a strong understanding of short selling and hard-to-borrow securities
- Understanding of stock locates and the securities lending business
- Familiarity with Level II and direct-access trading applications
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, dependable, and service-oriented approach
- Self-motivated, energetic, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities
- A go-getter attitude and willingness to take on new roles as needed
- Genuine interest in trading, financial markets, and working with active traders
- Active Series 7 and Series 63 licenses
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience monitoring firm/account risk
- Experience with corporate actions
- Experience with Option exercise and assignments
Schedule and Work Environment
- 4:00 AM–1:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- This is an in-office position at Cobra Trading’s Carrollton, Texas office
- Exact hours may occasionally vary based on business needs
- U.S. market holidays off

Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $80,000–$120,000, based on experience and qualifications
