Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, patient care, and medical administrative support, with experience across various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. The Medical Assistant will be instrumental in supporting physicians and healthcare providers by ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering compassionate patient care.
Duties
- Perform patient intake procedures, including recording medical histories and verifying insurance information.
- Measure and document vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with accuracy.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures across diverse specialties including dermatology, emergency medicine, and internal medicine.
- Prepare patients for treatment or diagnostic procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding of the process.
- Support clinical tasks such as medication administration, wound care, X-ray processing, and basic life support when necessary.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters, update medical histories, and code diagnoses using ICD coding standards.
- Coordinate with hospital departments for inpatient or Level I/II trauma center cases, including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or OR (Operating Room) support when required.
- Maintain clinical supplies inventory and ensure cleanliness of exam rooms following safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Experience working within hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and billing purposes.
- Strong understanding of dermatology procedures, urgent care protocols, medical-surgical practices, geriatrics, internal medicine, and emergency medicine workflows.
- Ability to perform basic diagnostic tasks such as X-ray processing or assisting with medication administration accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of diverse backgrounds and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of ICD coding for accurate diagnosis documentation; familiarity with hospital experience including Geriatrics or PICU is advantageous.
