JOB TITLE: Delivery Associate

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Delivery Associate to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient delivery of our products and maintaining optimal warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the craft brewing industry and possess the physical capability to handle kegs and other brewery-related items. Delivery from the Harpoon Brewery in the Boston Seaport to the Harpoon on the Boston Common.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Order Fulfillment:

Assist in pulling and palletizing non-keg items in the absence of the primary staff member, particularly on Monday or Thursday afternoons.

Oversee the loading of kegs and other items into the delivery van, ensuring secure and organized transportation.

Delivery Operations:

Execute deliveries to designated locations primarily on Tuesdays and Fridays. Additional delivery days may be scheduled based on business needs.

Ensure timely and professional delivery of products, maintaining positive relationships with clients.

Inventory Management:

Implement First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices to ensure proper rotation of kegs and other products in the on-site cooler.

Unload and organize returned kegs into the keg cooler, requiring the lifting and stacking of full kegs.

Returns and Redistribution:

Retrieve all empty kegs and other returnable items from delivery locations and transport them back to the brewery.

Distribute returned items to their appropriate locations within the brewery, including the keg yard, fest trailer, and designated staff areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a clean driving record.

Ability to lift and maneuver heavy items, including full kegs (up to 170 lbs).

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Flexibility to work varying hours, with deliveries typically scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Physically Demanding Work:
This role requires regular lifting, moving, and stacking of heavy items, including full beer kegs (up to ~170 lbs), CO2 tanks, and other brewing supplies. Team members must be able to safely lift, carry, and maneuver these loads throughout the workday, often without assistance. -
On Your FeetOn the Move:
Expect extended periods of standing, walking, and driving. You'll frequently be in and out of the van, navigating stairs, ramps, loading docks, and sometimes tight or uneven delivery spaces. -
Weather Exposure:
Deliveries occur in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold. You'll be expected to operate safely and efficiently regardless of the season. -
Temperature Extremes:
You'll spend time in refrigerated environments (keg coolers and walk-ins) and warm warehouse or van conditions, depending on the season. Proper dress and hydration are important. -
Driving Conditions:
Safe and attentive driving is required across a variety of urban and rural routes. You'll need to manage traffic, tight delivery windows, and safe handling of a loaded delivery vehicle. -
Repetitive Tasks:
The role involves repetitive lifting, bending, twisting, and handling of kegs and materials. Proper lifting technique and body mechanics are critical to prevent injury. -
SoloTeam Work:
While some tasks (like delivery driving) are independent, you'll also work closely with warehouse staff to load, unload, and rotate stock. Clear communication and reliability are key. -
Customer-Facing Component:
You represent the brand at every delivery stop. A courteous, professional attitude is expected when interacting with customers or accounts.
